To the beautiful bride,

After much planning, organizing, tears, and screaming, we have made it to the day we both have dreamed about since we were little girls. I can only say what a privilege it is to still be standing by your side. We’ve both learned that not all friendships make last. I’m happy to say we have.

I remember when we were little girls playing dress up with fake makeup and plastic heels. We spoke about one day finding our prince charmings. Little did we know, at that young age, that we’d spend the next few years kissing more than a few toads. Even when one of us moved away, it never changed the bond we had.

We were there for each other through every heartbreak, drying each other’s tears. I remember whatever problem either of us faced, the other was there to help carry the burden. You were always there with a smile, and a word or two of encouragement.

We understand each other. To find that bond as early as we did, and to keep that bond strong despite the deterrents that we faced, is something I’ll forever been thankful for.

Then, one day someone else joined our club.

And I handed you off, happy as you told me about every one of the firsts you two encountered.

Then I got that call and I already knew what you were going to say: that empty finger we used to put ring pops on now had something that was going to stay forever. And then the planning began.

I can honestly say, now that we survived wedding planning and made it to this day, that we will be able to overcome everything. You stand here, and you stand beside a man who I know is worthy. 

To you sir, I say you have won over the heart of my best friend. You have won over my heart, and the hearts of all of her friends and family. We give her away to you, knowing that today you have married one of the most wonderful women in the entire world. May you cherish her, the way we all have. May you love her the way we all have. May you overcome any challenge, your future faces; the way we were able to in the past. I don’t need to stand here and tell you everything wonderful about her, because I know none of us would be standing here, if you didn’t already know all these things. To you sir, I say thank you. Thank you, for making my best friend’s dreams a reality. Thank you for giving her the fairytale she so very much deserves.

As Aristotle once wrote, “Friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies.??? That’s what you have given me, and that is what I hope to give you the rest of our lives.
